Lynda's Story: Everyone has to start somewhere !
Retail Trainer/Assessor with Training Prospects
As a 15yo female I started work in the mans domain the hardware store this was back in the 70s, wow very daunting and definitely not glamorous. For 3 months all I did was pack 10 screws into little plastic bags attached a hanging card and then hand wrote the size and quantity on them.....BORING! But I hung in there and went on to manage the largest hardware store in South Australia at the time. My journey in retail has been super exciting from sales to advertising and marketing to being a state buyer for an Electrical group and then another door opened. Now I have the best job ever! I share my passion about retail with lots of wonderful people in my training role. My advise to you is to understand everyone has to start some where, your journey is what you make it. Be prepared to work hard and have the confidence to open the door to trying something new. My best wishes to you all
